By Peter Van Allen (Philadelphia Business Journal) – The plan to use 26,000 square feet of the park for up to seven restaurants would “crowd out other park uses,” the nonprofit Philadelphia Parks Alliance said in a seven-point critique of Council President Darrell L. Clarke’s proposal.
It said such a program would need more research and comply with existing guidelines for park development.
“There needs to be a thoughtful investigation of the current and desired uses for LOVE Park before such a drastic change to the park use is undertaken,” the organization said.
Clarke argued that leases from the restaurants would create revenue that could fund refurbishments to the park.
