A bill introduced by Councilman Brian O’Neill that would have required urban farmers to win what City Paper describes as “relatively tough-to-obtain” exemptions, is altered at the last minute. The changed bill passed Council today, and city green thumbs rejoice.

Philly’s pension board voted unanimously today to “ask all gun manufacturers, distributors and retailers with whom it has invested city pension money to adopt” Mayor Michael Nutter’s “Sandy Hook Principles,” reports Philly.com.

Jason Smith

Philadelphia police have charged Jason Smith, an exterminator, with strangling and setting on fire 35 year-old pediatrician Melissa Ketunuti, reports ABC News. According to authorities, Smith had an argument with Ketunuti over the phone before allegedly murdering her in her Center City home.
