Funded by community members and stakeholders, a new playground costing around $150,000 opened on 12th and Federal Streets. The playground sits between a cemetery and Jackson Elementary. The park that was once just a slab of concrete now boasts a full basketball court, dome jungle-gym and a safe playing-surface.
At the opening ceremony, attended by 1st District Councilman Mark Squilla and Mayor Michael Nutter, Albert Stumn for the Passyunk Post reports:
“Nutter even climbed around the new playground dome with several students like a big kid.”
There will also be Community Day Part II, which is planned for the morning of Oct. 25.
