The School Reform Commission is appealing yesterday’s permanent stay on cancelling teacher contracts made by Judge Nina Wright Padilla, Solomon Leach reports at Daily News.
Wright-Padilla had issued a temporary stay over a week ago shortly after the SRC filed in Common Pleas Court seeking a ruling that would validate its unilateral move to cancel its contract with the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers. Commonwealth Court will hear the appeal, although no date has been set.
Leach reports that both sides consider Wright-Padilla’s decision a victory for their respective positions on the issue.
