Thousands took to the streets on Monday, including supporters of former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, as well as local poverty activists from the Poor People’s Campaign for Economic and Human Rights and other groups, marching in sweltering heat today from City Hall down to the Wells Fargo Center on the Democratic National Convention’s opening day.

The Inquirer‘s Aubrey Whelan reports this evening that approximately 55 people were briefly detained and cited for civil code violations, before being released.
