Philadelphia City Council returns from hiatus tomorrow, and as the Philly Tribune reports, a number of key topics confront them – with the closing of 37 public schools on the top of that list.


Brett Mandel, who is once again running for City Controller as a “Budget Bulldog”, launched an online database of city expenditures – and City Paper uncovers some interesting items.


Philadelphia police are “very confident” they will make an arrest in the shocking murder of Melissa Ketunuti, a pediatrician found tied and burned to death in her Center City home, reports The Inquirer.


The Department of Justice unsealed a 193-count indictment today, charging Philadelphia resident Linda Weston, her daughter, and three co-defendants with “racketeering, murder in aid of racketeering, hate crimes, sex trafficking, forced labor, theft, fraud,” in what has become known as the “Philadelphia dungeon case.”
