Wednesday is International walk/bike to school day and one area school will have 25 participants taking part in the event, West Philly Local reports:
“Approximately 25 students from The Lea School will be walking and rolling to school Wednesday along with parents, teachers and community leaders, like Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell.”
According the event’s website, the event is designed to create awareness for year-round safe routes to school. The event is being organized by the Lea Home and School Association and will start at 7:45 from Barkan Park. Participants will also be given a nutritious breakfast and stickers.
According to West Philly Schools, The Lea School will be hosting a Kindergarden open house next week:
Henry C. Lea Elementary will be having a Kindergarten Open House on Wednesday, October 15th from 8:45-10:30 a.m. beginning in the auditorium at 4700 Locust. The Open House will include a meet and greet with Principal Jennifer Duffy, trip to the WePAC library program, and visits with the kindergarten classes of Ms. Mykytiuch, Ms. Zatuchni, and Ms. Finch. The West Philly Coalition for Neighborhood Schools will be providing breakfast snacks.”
