Editor’s note: A Temple University spokesperson told Billy Penn that the White Students Union is not currently an officially recognized student organization.
A Temple University student organization, the White Students Union (officially recognized by the University in 1988) is planning a moment of silence for former Ferguson, MO police officer Darren Wilson, whose August killing of unarmed teen Michael Brown was found justified by grand jury in late November.
The Union, as might be expected, has been a source of much controversy on campus in its 25-odd years of operation. We have contacted representatives for comment.
Pro-tip: a “moment of silence” is generally used to honor or memorialize a person or persons who have died, for example Michael Brown, who was killed by a police officer who subsequently lied about the circumstances and received $1,000,000 for his efforts. As such, this moment of silence makes no damn sense.

are you sure this is the same group as the one recognized by Temple in 1988? I don’t see them listed on the list of student organizations at Temple. It looks like they’re just trolls.

None of the information in this article is correct. It’s actually stunningly inaccurate. There was a twitter account started on Saturday and that is the extent of Temple’s White Student Union.
